Sure, I'll totally agree that the sheer numbers of sales means little in the comparison. In fact, I don't think people give two shits about comparing numbers of the two as it means little. Maybe the people that walk into Stillen and aren't web-informed but we don't care about those people, do we? ;) What I and a lot of people have a beef with is the blitzkreig of BS arguments about why the JWT was unsafe, less safe or "not quite as safe" as the ASHSpec chip. All of which with absolutely ZERO backing (be it from any literature, other high end tuners, etc). Simply what came from the creator, the one selling the product to you, the consumer. Like him or hate him, he's in a biased position...this is business. The final explanation being a "different school of thought". Hey, I'm all for thinking outside the box but not on my motor, thankyouverymuch. But hey, it's my choice to choose what I want to buy, just as it is someone else's. That was not the problem. It was the bogus statements that spawned from what I discussed above. That was a turning point for a lot of people, not to mention how said parties handled themselves (though things are much better now...as I think other individuals at the time just made things worse and are now gone). But back then, many of us sat back, amazed that a huge section of people took it all as gospel and didn't even bother to read the counter-explanations from people who had been doing this for a decade, the links posted to tuning articles and books, etc that explained why JWT does what they do. Interesting that it's very similar to "buying something by name alone" as you mentioned. Talk about a two-way street =) Want to find the core of the "two sides" of the chip wars and that would be it. Everything else, every little flamewar and stupid semi-related tangent is somehow tied back to this. Wait, what were we talking about again? :D
